New Update

Linksys Wireless-N USB network adapter lets you add or upgrade wireless connectivity to a desktop or a laptop. Its Wireless-N (draft 802.11n) and MIMO (Multiple In, Multiple Out) technology increases its range and coverage area and reduces the dead spot. It also has backward compatibility with Wireless-B (802.11b) and Wireless-G (802.11g) standards.

To check the performance of Linksys Wireless-N USB network adapter, we tested it on a machine with Windows 7 (32-bit) installed. We used 'Qcheck 3.0' to check the UDP and TCP throughput with 1000 Kb of payload. This adapter was able to give results of 33 Mbps (UDP) and 55 Mbps (TCP) respectively. To check the speed of transmission, we transferred 40 MB of data from another machine. The average time taken to transfer this file was approximately 19 seconds. We also let the system go into sleep mode to check if it still retained the connectivity after waking up. We were not disappointed.

With its dual band capability to work on both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequencies at the same time, interference is avoided during data transfer or streaming. It includes security features like WEP, WPA, and WPA2. This adapter might not work properly if your desktop or laptop is placed in a covered area. But that problem, to a great extent, can be solved by using the USB extension provided with it.

Bottomline: Instead of changing the internal hardware, you can upgrade your system's wireless connectivity with this product.
