  1. Turn off your Mac.
  2. Insert the USB bootable media.
  3. When the Option key is depressed, the Mac restarts.
  4. Once it has rebooted, pick the USB disc and choose Disk Utility.
  5. On your Mac, pick First Aid, tap the primary hard disc, and then click Erase.
  6. Select Format > OS X Extended (Journaled) in the pop-up window, and then click Erase. This will delete your hard drive.
