Mahindra Navistar Engines' Lync Federation with MWM Brazil

The Problem: The project was initiated specifically for engineering users, who require to do lots of communication with another company, MWM Brazil. They wanted a cost effective solution to communicate faster and more effectively. This entailed real time unified communication, sharing desktop as and when needed, and to save money on international calls.

The Solution: MNEPL was using Microsoft Lync application for its internal corporate communication. MWM Brazil, a JV Partner was also using the same application for their internal communication. Many users were communicating with MWM Brazil via international calls, causing the cost impact on telephone expenses. As a technology advancement they federated both the Lync application securely and achieved the advantage of real time communication including voice as well as video.As part of this deployment, they had to authenticate both the Active Directories and introduce the Public SSL certificate from GeoTrust as well as Internal SSL Certificate for more secure communication.

The Result: The overall impact of the project was in enhancing communication with the JV partner. Users can now conduct video conferencing as well share their desktops, if there was a specific need for designing engineering documents.
