Among the four leading brands offering managed system services, HP was the
top choice, followed by IBM, Wipro and HCL Info systems. One observation we have
from this analysis is that while there are nearly 30 different brands offering
system management services, it's the actual system manufacturer who're preferred
over others.
Both HP and IBM had nearly similar and the highest top of mind recall amongst
our respondents. When analyzing the brand perception across industries, we found
that HP has highest perception in IT/ITeS, communication media, and education
verticals, and the lowest in services segment. Other leading managed system
service vendor, Wipro is preferred in process manufacturing and BFSI verticals
but needs to improve in education, IT/ITeS and discrete manufacturing. Services
vertical is led by HCL.
Primary reason for choosing HP as the future brand of choice emerged as the
brand name, followed by after sales support and service. In the brand switch
matrix, HP enjoyed 45% brand loyalty, with another 5% of its customers likely to
switch to Wipro. Likewise, 6% of IBM's existing customers said they were likely
to switch to HP. Wipro had 56% brand loyalty, and none of its existing customers
were likely to shift to any particular brand. HCL Infosystems enjoyed brand
loyalty of 57%
