Micromax Mobiles has launched its first-ever full HD phablet device in the Canvas range called Canvas Turbo and will be available across the country from 26 October. Micromax Turbo sports the company's first-ever 5 inch full HD CGS (Continuous Grain Silicon) which is co-owned by display majors, Sharp and said to deliver high-level resolution content. Unlike most of the rumors, Micromax has managed to pack a few punch with the Turbo without really hurting the pockets by pricing the smartphone at Rs 19,900. This pits the smartphone with the recently launched Gionee Elife E6 which is priced at upwards of Rs 22,000.

In terms of specifications, the Micromax Canvas Turbo packs a 1.5 GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6589T CPU and 2 GB RAM, which is a definite improvement from the Canvas 4. For imaging, the Turbo comes with a 13 MP rear camera with flash and a 5 MP camera is fitted on the front.

Interestingly, the Turbo only comes with 16 GB (12.7 GB usable) built-in storage, with no word on expandability via microSD and also, one can only use up to 0.98 GB for installing applications. Sadly, there has been no improvement on the battery built as Turbo packs the same 2000 mAh battery, which has been ever-present across Canvas smartphones. The smartphone runs on Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean version and will be upgradeable in the future via over-the-air (OTA) as per Micromax.
