Microsoft and Tom Tom in collaboration to bring AI assistant to automobile
Microsoft and Tom Tom have teamed up to develop an AI helper. The language models from OpenAI and Microsoft technologies like Azure Cosmos DB and Azure Cognitive Services are used by this helper.
According to the business, users will be able to have natural conversations while driving thanks to the AI's more sophisticated speech interaction. It will assist customers with window opening, onboard system control, navigation, stopping along the way, and other driving-related duties.
Taco Titulaer, the head of finance at TomTom, told Reuters in October that the business was devoting resources to generative AI to find fresh prospects in the area.
How AI will be integrated into vehicles
This voice assistant integrates with various interfaces offered by major car manufacturers while ensuring that the car company's brand is maintained. So it could start appearing in cars from many different manufacturers, although no final partnerships with a known vehicle manufacturer have been announced.
However, this technology will be integrated into TomTom's own Digital Cockpit, an open and modular in-vehicle infotainment platform. TomTom previously released the ChatGPT LLM extension in July, which allows the chat and its users to plan trips and explore new destinations using the company and maps.
Mercedes has also worked with Microsoft in the past, launching a beta program in June that used ChatGPT models in some vehicles using Microsoft's Azure OpenAI service.
Meanwhile, Microsoft has formed a partnership with Suno, a pioneer in AI-powered music production. The partnership aims to integrate Suno's capabilities with its AI-driven Copilot chatbot, which lets users create customized music by following easy directions.
"Through this partnership, people will have at their fingertips the ability, regardless of musical background, to create fun, clever, and personalized songs with a simple prompt," Microsoft stated in an official blog post.
