The
href="http://pcquest.ciol.com/content/pcshootout/2009/109100601.asp">security
update is to address vulnerabilities in Internet Explorer including
those recently targeted. All customers using currently supported
versions of Windows and IE should apply this critical update
(Security Bulletin is available at
href="http://www.microsoft.com/security">www.microsoft.com/security)
as soon as possible. For customers using automatic updates (which
applies to most Windows users), this update would have applied
automatically when it was released or when the user next switches on
their PC and connects to the Internet. Further, Microsoft recommends,
where possible, customers should upgrade to IE 8, to leverage the
improved security protection built into the browser. IE 8 can be
downloaded from http://www.microsoft.com/ie.
The
recent attacks have been targeted, pre-determined and deliberate in
nature, against IE
6.
Customers using IE 8 have not been affected by currently known
attacks and exploits due to the improved security protections
provided in IE8, but Microsoft still recommends they apply the update
as soon as possible
