Users will be able to "display a prop or other object in your hand to be more visible to other meeting attendees" by using the green screen.

What is Green Screen?

In most films, a green screen is used to create the desired background behind the subject. In action movies, some of the stunts look real because of the green screen.

In Teams Meetings, the green screen feature is now available for public preview. Only Windows and Apple Mac computers with Intel chips support it. There is no support for Macs with M1/M2 chips.)

Microsoft said that the green screen requires a strong variety screen or a foundation wall behind the client, and it should be "level without stains or different inconsistencies."

According to the company, "Users must apply a background effect in Teams meetings to enable the green screen effect" and "should carefully select the backdrop color" in order to apply the effect correctly and achieve better quality.

How to enable green screen in Teams Meeting

  • In Teams Meetings, users must apply a background effect and select the appropriate backdrop color before enabling the green screen effect.
  • Go to "Video Effects" by clicking the "More" icon in the meeting toolbar after joining a meeting.
  • In the Backgrounds section of the "Video effects" panel page, click "Green Screen Settings."
  • Click the link to activate the "Teams settings > Devices > Green screen" toggle button.
  • To select the backdrop color manually, click the backdrop icon and drag your mouse cursor into the Preview box.
  • It is prompted that clients try not to pick a variety that matches their dress or props.
  • Go back to the meeting.

Green screen limitation

Microsoft said that the green screen will naturally impair foundation obscure and Together Mode, yet it will be viable with Moderator modes like Champion, One next to the other, and Journalist, PowerPoint Live Champion, and foundation substitution (JPEG/PNG).

Besides, clear (or straightforward) objects can't create a decent green screen result. Additionally, for the green screen effect, the object cannot be properly detected if it is too thin.
