New Update

This category had the maximum number of cards-eleven. Of the eleven cards, seven were based on GPUs from NVIDIA and four on ATI. The price of the cards in this category varied widely from Rs 4,750—Rs 17,360, and so did the performance. But, most of the cards in this category are good for playing the latest games at good resolution and medium-to-high graphic detail. All cards based on the NVIDIA GeForce 6600 GPU were the high performers and the ones based on ATI Radeon 9600 and 9800 were low-to-mid-level performers. All cards, except for Zebronics 6600GT (256 MB), had 128MB of VRAM. The 256 MB VRAM did give the Zebronics 6600GT the highest scores in 3DMark05 and Half-Life 2, while second highest score in Doom3.

On the features front only, the PowerColor Radeon 9600XT Bravo had support for video capturing (VIVO). The PowerColor 9800Pro and 9600XT Bravo come with a several good games, such as Tomb Raider, Will Rock and Splinter Cell.

Leadtek WinFast A6600GT TDH

This Leadtek card, based on the NVIDIA GeForce 6600GT GPU, certainly, is not the best performer. But it is in fact the best priced card for its performance, and the software and game it bundles. Overall, its performance lies on the higher side of the performance graphs in Doom3 and Half-Life 2. Apart from that it also comes with two good games, Prince of Persia and Splinter Cell. The software bundle that comes along with the card is also useful. The closest competitor to this card, in terms of price and performance, came out to be Zebronics 6600GT (128 MB). The Zebronics performed slightly better than this Leadtek and is also lesser priced, but did not come with any games or useful software, which made it lose in our three axis model. RQS# E28 or

Asus N6600GT

This Asus card, though the highest priced in this category, wins because of its best performance in Doom3, and second best performance in 3DMark05 and Half-Life 2, along with the good games and software bundle. The Zebronics 6600GT (256 MB) was performing better than this Asus in two of the three benchmarks and is also lesser priced. However, it was beaten because of its lack of bundled games and useful software. Considering the model followed by our analysis, Asus N6600GT, rightly deserves the highly recommended position.
