Early this year, we came to know that Motorola is working to bring back its Razr smartphone, but what’s interesting is that this time it would fold. In February, Motorola Mobility confirmed that it is working on a foldable for this year and the company has now sent out media invites for an event scheduled on November 13, wherein users will witness the foldable Razr smartphone.
“You’re going to flip,” and the event will apparently be the “highly-anticipated unveiling of a reinvented icon,” the invite reads.
According to the media reports, the RAZR will have a signature hinge that can be pulled away from the edge of the handset to reveal a different sort of hinge underneath that will incorporate a truly foldable screen as seen in the Samsung’s Galaxy Fold.
The Motorola Razr foldable smartphone was first spotted on the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) database having XT2000-1 as a model number. The description on the website reveals Bluetooth 5.0 as a connectivity option on the Motorola Razr. The smartphone will be launched Verizon Wireless as a carrier in the US.
The Razr will have pre-installed apps such as Moto Display, Moto Action, Moto Camera. According to the media reports, the secondary display can also be used as a trackpad to scroll social media apps or web pages on a browser.
The device is expected to come with a 6.2-inch OLED folding screen as a primary display, which when folded will transform into a 600×800-pixel secondary display. Motorola Razr would be powered by the Snapdragon 710 SoC with eight CPU cores built on Qualcomm’s custom Kryo 360 architecture. Of the eight cores, two ARM Cortex-A75 cores would clock at 2.2GHz, and the remaining six cores ARM Cortex-A55 cores would clock at 1.7GHz. There will also be an Adreno 616 GPU. Motorola Razr could come in two option — 4GB+64GB and 6GB + 128GB.
In the US, the Motorola Razr is expected to cost $1500, which is relatively cheaper than the other foldable smartphones including the Galaxy Fold and the Huawei Mate X.
