The product can work on plenty of OSs, both desktops and servers, and comes with drivers for them. These include Windows 9x/NT/Me/2000, Novell NetWare, SCO Open Server, and Linux. A Multitech ISI Management Utility is there for monitoring data traffic and controlling the modems attached to the ISI card. There’s also a cable (Octopus cable) with eight,

25-pin serial ports extending from one end, and a 78-pin connector on the other, which goes into the card. These eight ports are labeled from 1-8, and as all are 25-pin connectors, you’ll need a converter cable if you have any 9-pin serial device.

To install the card you have to plug it in to a PCI slot and install the drivers from the accompanying CD. The manual also contains a step-by-step installation procedure. During installation Windows detects and creates eight COM ports, and automatically

assigns one at random to each port. Priced at Rs 18,950, the card comes with a one-year warranty.
