As the name suggests, these PCs from NeST Systems are
strikingly slim, measuring about 3" in width. They can be placed either in
a desktop or tower orientation. The creative-minded can even keep it reclining
at an angle. Two models are available in this range–Slim PC 1 and Slim PC 2.
The
Slim PC 1 has an 810E chipset based motherboard with a PIII/667 MHz processor.
It has 64 MB RAM, a 10.2 GB Ultra-ATA 66 hard disk and a 10x DVD drive. Graphics
is integrated, with 4 MB VRAM, and sound is also on-board using the AC’97
chip. It also has a 56.6 kbps internal data, fax, and voice modem. The Slim PC 2
is built around an 815E motherboard and a PIII/700 MHz processor. Other
specifications are the same as the Slim PC 1. Both models have a 145 W SMPS,
which is less compared to the standard 235 W power supplies in ordinary PCs.
This doesn’t, however, affect the PC’s performance.
We viewed DVDs on the machines and the playback was good with
almost no frame dropouts. Though the actual performance parameters could not be
measured, these machines performed pretty well at games too.
The Slim PC 1 is priced at Rs 53,000 and the PC 2 at Rs
56,000 (inclusive of a 15" color monitor).
