Web services is the most talked about new technology for sharing information across the Internet today. Taking over from DCOM/RMI/IIOP/CORBA, Web Services have become the de facto standard for requesting and sending information using standards like HTTP and XML over the net.

This book starts off with defining the problem faced in sharing information currently. And then introduces Web services as a solution and how it solves the problems. It then details the different standards being used for web services and moves on to how to create Web services on the .NET platform.

The book goes into details of this technology including creating clients, reading and writing XML, serialization and more. The related technologies such as SOAP, WSDL and UDDI each get a chapter for themselves as well.

The book is well laid out and the information flows in an appropriate direction. Anyone who is interested in knowing details of Web services, especially on the .NET platform, is well advised to read this book.
