New Update

The other joint winner in this shootout, the PC from NetKracker is built around an 810e motherboard. It housed a Celeron 766 MHz processor, together with 128 MB RAM, the maximum RAM in its group. Its original price tag of just above 25,000 did not include the price of an OS, so we added 3,600 for our calculations to put it on level ground with the rest. Sound and display were both onboard, and it had a 52x Samsung CD-ROM drive and 14” monitor. This PC lost points due to the lack of a network card, an essential component of any office PC. You could perhaps swap its internal 56 K modem for one. This slight hiccup, and its smaller monitor size as compared to others in its group meant that it could only salvage fourth position in the features ranking.

This PC is a joint winner with the Connoi Celeron 800

  • Pros: 128 MB RAM, great performance
  • Cons: No Ethernet port
  • Performance/Price ratio: 7.92
  • Features: 84.7

However, performance-wise this PC was only a whisker behind the other winner Connoi, with an average score of 22.7. Its cheaper price tag meant a performance to price ratio of 7.92, which was the highest in the shootout.

Overall this PC had the highest performance to price ratio in its group. Speakers from Mercury and a one-year onsite warranty were also a part of the package. So if you are looking for a PC which performs well and does not cost a fortune, then look no further.
