This is an old time segment, which is why six brands managed to get into the
Users’ Choice club from it. Of these, the top three contenders remain the same
as last year, i.e. HP OpenView at the top, followed by IBM Tivoli and
Microsoft’s SMS server at the third spot. Other brands that made it to the club
were Satyam, Avaya (Lucent), and CA UniCenter.

Amongst the current owners as well as those who’re likely to choose the top
three brands, the primary reason for chose came up as brand value. This goes
without saying because all of them are well-established brands in this segment
with a proven track record.

Among the top brands, IBM Tivoli enjoyed the highest brand loyalty amongst
its existing users at 63%. It does however face a small threat from OpenView,
because 13% of its existing users said that they’re likely to switch to that
brand in the next six months. On the other hand only 3% of OpenView customers
displayed a likelihood of moving to IBM Tivoli, while 30% said they were likely
to stay with OpenView in the near future also.
