Almost five years after introducing Android Auto globally, Google for the first time this year announced major changes coming to the platform. The Android Auto now supports over 500 car models from 50 different brands, and the company isn’t pumping the brakes there! Thus to make your driving experience simpler, Google has released new updates coming to Android Auto.

The company has made the new interface more appy. You can now find all your favourite apps with fewer taps than before on the new app launcher. The new app launched can be opened by tapping on the bottom left button, where you'll find the familiar app icons laid out with your most commonly used apps automatically featured in the top row. With just a few taps you can listen to your favourite podcast or send a message to your loved ones.

Google has also decided to put Google Assistant badge on most of the app icons. By tapping the icon, the Google Assistant will help you with your daily meetings, give you the weather report, read you the news or set a reminder for you.

The Android Auto will now automatically start playing where you left off your music or podcast. It can also automatically start navigating the directions and begin routing you to your destination on your display. With the new navigation bar, you can manage multiple apps, easier than before.

There is also a new notification button that houses all of your recent calls, messages, and alerts. Just long-press the mic button on the steering wheel, tap on the mic button on your display or say “Hey Google” to have the Google Assistant help make calls, send messages and read your notifications.

And if you have a car with a wider screen, the Google Android Auto can maximize your display to show you more information, like next-turn directions, playback controls, and ongoing calls.
