Nokia before its untimely demise was focused on Microsoft's Windows Phone platform for its smartphones i.e. Lumia and even after constant market pressure to switch to Android, the Finnish giant continued its association with Microsoft.

The whole arrangement was starting to look moving in the right direction, however, Microsoft and Nokia has other ideas and both mutually decided to merge together when Microsoft bought Nokia's mobile business for $5.5 billion earlier this month.

"We already have a team of senior former Nokia executives ready to run the business, and we are confident that we can attract the talent from those people who want to develop a competitive phone running on Android platform," Zilliacus said during an interview.

All in all, Newkia sounds like an interesting proposition and if the company manages to bring out a Nokia like quality phone running on Android then the long lost dream of an Nokia Android phone could become a reality.
