Kasab’s trial managed using Scrum Systems’ Labourworks
The courtroom trial of the lone surviving member of the terrorist group
behind the 26/11 attack was unprecedented in ways more than one. The infamous
Ajmal Kasab was tried in a special court that gave its verdict 17 months after
the catastrophic event. Despite of his inhumane crimes, the spirit of Indian
democracy shone bright as he was tried in a fair manner in a civil court with
complete transparency. Pune-based Scrum Systems’ Labourworks, was deployed at
the Arthur Road jail for maintaining strict vigil over everyone attending the
court room trial. Designed for managing temporary workers, the software uses a
biometric signature verification to authenticate a person. Everyone visiting the
court room, right from journalists to the Indo Tibetan Police Force (ITPF) were
scrutinized through this system and issued an ID Card. The card was packed with
a variety of complex safety features to help avoid counterfeiting and forging.
This ID Card along with bio-metric verification was used for attendance in the
courtroom.
