As in the past, and reflecting the market trend, assemblers are on top in this category. Amongst the brands, Compaq retains its top spot for the fifth time in six years. Rest of the lineup is more or less unaltered from last year, starting with IBM at number two. Just failing to make the cut is Dell. Zenith, which made the grade last year, fell behind Dell this time.

Compaq got the largest support from software development houses, which is also IBM’s strongest constituency. HP, HCL and Wipro got most of their support from corporates.

Interestingly, all brands that made the cut have improved on their UPIs–good news for them.
