OnePlus 12: A Recent Leak Reveals a Significant Design Update

The OnePlus 12 appears to have undergone an unexpected design update. Thankfully, a fresh render from OnLeaks and MySmartPrice, allegedly based on a pre-production device, shows us what's changed.

The updated design retains the same spherical camera hump on the back and curved display on the front as the current OnePlus 11. The main difference is a reorganisation of the cameras in the circular bump.

The lower half of the camera block was taken up by an enormous rectangular component that is presumed to be a periscope zoom camera in the early renders shared by OnLeaks. On the other hand, on the OnePlus 12, the periscope camera is now housed in the same rounded lens as the other two sensors above it, with a fourth blanked-out circle making the block appear more symmetrical.

Aside from that, we anticipate a curved display with a punch-hole in the center, the characteristic alert slider, and a sandstone-finish black colour option (with more to come) in the OnePlus 12.

Regarding specifications, the next OnePlus flagship is expected to have a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with better LTPO technology, a 120Hz refresh rate, and more. OnePlus 12 will likely be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, which will be released next month. Up to 24GB of RAM and 512GB of storage are possible, as well as a larger 5,400mAh battery with 100W fast charging and 50W wireless fast charging, Android 14-based OxygenOS 14, and other features.

A periscope lens would be an excellent addition to the next OnePlus flagship phone. It's been rumoured for a while, and with a likely 64MP sensor behind it, the chances of it seeming strong. According to reports, the OnePlus 12 will employ the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 CPU, 100W wired fast charging and 50MP main and ultrawide cameras.

OnePlus 12: Expected Launch

The OnePlus 12 is expected to be released by the end of the year, although it may not be available outside of China until early 2024. If that's the case, the OnePlus 12 will have to outperform the next iPhone 15 Pro series and the Samsung Galaxy S24 series.

However, a OnePlus flagship phone may be released before then. The partially confirmed OnePlus Open foldable phone should be available before the end of the year.
