Launched in 2019, the OnePlus 7 series has continued to receive updates up until this point. OxygenOS 9 came pre-installed on the OnePlus 7 series when it was released in May 2019. The OnePlus 7 and the OnePlus 7 Pro were in the lineup. In the meantime, the OnePlus 7T series, which includes the OnePlus 7T and OnePlus 7T Pro, went on sale in October 2019 and came pre-installed with OxygenOS 10. With the release of the final OxygenOS 12 update, the devices are no longer supported.

Software support for the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7T series has officially ended

OnePlus has announced on its official community website that software support for the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7T series smartphones has ended. After providing both lineups with two Major Android OS updates and one year's worth of security updates, the company has decided to call it quits.

“According to the maintenance schedule, MP3 will be the final build for OnePlus 7/7 Pro, Thank you all for your help and attention to OnePlus,” OnePlus wrote in the community forum.

While the OnePlus devices released after the OnePlus 8 series will continue to receive updates (the OnePlus 9 series will receive four years of security updates and three major Android updates), the OnePlus 7 series does not appear to have the same luck.

Further, if you are still using a smartphone from the OnePlus 7 series and are extremely concerned about receiving software updates on a regular basis, it is probably time to upgrade. Additionally, if you intend to remain a member of the OnePlus ecosystem, the OnePlus 11 will be available in India on February 7.
