Gone are the days when you had to wait anxiously for the newspaper to read
your favorite news. Today, just about every newspaper and news channel has
online presence, allowing you to read your favorite news online. So the obvious
question is which is the most widely accessed news site, and in this age of
cut-throat competition between umpteen different news agencies, which is the
most future ready news site?
In our survey, consumers rated BBC as the most future ready news site,
followed by NDTV. Hindustantimes.com is at the third spot for future readiness.
Interestingly, Hindustantimes emerged as the most persuasive news site amongst
our survey respondents. Aajtak.com is a distant second in brand persuasiveness.
But the site that has the strongest brand pull is Google News, which
aggregates content from all other sites, followed by hindustantimes.com.
We also have a very interesting brand pull situation in this segment. Out of
the 10 sites that managed to get sufficient votes to be analyzed, half have more
users likely to switch into them and the other half have more users likely to
switch out. So obviously, the latter half needs to gear up. Brand loyalty falls
between 25 to 37% for all sites, with a tug of war between them for loyal users.
The likely switch outs lie between 49 to 55% across all sites.
