Oplus India, a subsidiary of Taiwanese tech major Oplus on Wednesday July 24 announced Xonphone 5 in Indian market. This is the first Android device by the company in India. Xonphone 5 (dont confuse it with Asus Zenfone 5) comes with a 5 inch OGS True to life HD display that offers a resolution of 320ppi. It packs a MediaTek MTK 6582 Quad-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz coupled with 1GB RAM.
The back of the phone is given a hard leather texture feel that closely resembles Samsung Galaxy S5 and is home to an 8MP auto focus shooter with LED flash. It can shoot 1080P videos and the front is equipped with a 2MP camera for video calling and selfies.
Considering the competition in Indian smartphone market, Oplus is shipping its first phone with Android 4.4.2 Kitkat out of the box which make it a direct competitor of Moto E, Lava Iris X1 and Micromax Unite 2.The phone has a slim profile, 7.8 mm but feels heavy in hands with its metallic construction. It comes in 16GB inbuilt storage that is further expandable up-to 32GB via microSD card.
Oplus will sell Xonphone 5 on Snapdeal at a price of Rs 7,999 by today itself.
