Soon after Oppo introduced K1 in India, the company at an event in Mumbai launched Oppo F11 Pro that comes with a pop-up camera at a more affordable price. The Oppo F11 Pro is priced at Rs 24,990 and will be available on Flipkart and other major stores both online and offline starting March 15.

The Oppo F11 Pro goes head to head with Vivo's recently launched V15 Pro that also sports a pop-up camera and is exactly double in resolution as compared to F11 Pro. The rear camera of F11 Pro has a resolution of 48MP – something we believe will dominate the 2019 as there are three phones launched earlier with the same resolution including V15 Pro, Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro and Honor View 20.

So, let’s first dig the camera.

The company is claiming that F11 Pro will produce excellent low-light shots thanks to the Ultra HD Night mode. While we will give the in-depth camera review later, however, for the time I tested the Oppo F11 Pro, the smartphone produced neat shots but was accompanied by a slight colour balance.

Here is what exactly happens in low-light photography in processing. The Oppo F11 Pro combines the data from four nearby pixels to make the image equivalent to a 1.6μm pixel size utilising tetracell technology which doubles the photosensitive pixel size resulting in bright images with reduced noise.

The sensor also tries very hard to capture the bright light illuminating from bulbs or other light sources, but fails. On the other hand, the day light images were detailed and impressive. The 16MP front camera does a decent job for selfies.

Design and display

Coming in gradient colour schemes viz. aurora green (dual-tone shade) and thunder black (triple-colour shade), the Oppo F11 Pro is definitely pleasing to look at.

Further, the absence of notch combined with a full-screen display gives F11 Pro a sleek design. The 6.5-inches full HD+ LCD screen void of notch offers a massive 19.5:9 aspect ratio with a resolution of 2340 × 1080 pixels. Multimedia consumers will surely love this device as it offers a distraction free viewing and produces great colours which makes it a noteworthy device in the sub-25k price segment.

Performance

The Oppo F11 Pro is powered by a MediaTek P70 octa-core CPU paired up with 4GB of RAM. The MediaTek P70 processor is good enough for everyday tasks that include web-browsing, scrolling through social media apps, however, hard core games beware, this is not a device of you. While it can run PUBG seamlessly, don’t expect it to run games that require heavy graphics processing.

The company has also equipped F11 Pro with Hyperboost technology to amplify the gaming performance. With the Hyperboost technology, Oppo F11 Pro automatically optimises the hardware and software for an enhanced and lag-free performance in games.

The smartphone is fuelled by a huge 4,000 mAh battery cell which can easily last for a day on a single charge. Further, the phone supports VOOC 3.0 fast charging.

The smartphone runs on ColorOS 6 based on Android 9 Pie and the major change in the new skin is the addition of an App Drawer. Then there is new Smart Assistant screen and notification panel. The entire user interface is now more colourful and resembles UI now follows a more minimal and material UI format and it looks good. More on this later.

Early verdict

The Oppo F11 Pro is definitely a feature rich smartphone. The motorised selfie camera, gradient colour design, and a massive 48MP sensor are three major features that will appeal to Indian masses.
