New Update

Oppo is rapidly making space for itself in the Indian market and R1 is going to give it a decent jump. With its sleek form factor the mobile is packed with loads of features. The 5-inch device looks pretty cool, and reminds one of the iPhone. The 7mm thick phone is wrapped with a metallic frame in light wine color that adds beauty to its overall looks.

Sleek Form Factor: The sleek phone is made of plastic with glass finishing at front and back that makes it attractive as well as protects it from smudges and scratches. It is a little slippery in hands due to the glossy finish, but the 5-inch device fits easily into the pocket thanks to its smart dimensions. The volume rocker and power buttons are build into the metallic frame, and speakers at the bottom. The dual-SIM phone offers only one slot to insert both SIMs available on the left side panel at the bottom.

Performance: The R1 boasts a 5-inch IPS display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3, which is now common with most devices. It could have been full HD for this price, but nevertheless it has a decent display to watch videos and play games. It packs 1.3 GHz quad-core Mediatek processor coupled with 1 GB RAM for seamless performance, which is good, but there are better options available that contain Qualcomm and 2 GB RAM in this price range. R1 offers 16 GB of internal memory, in which 12 GB is available to the the user. Unfortunately it doesn't come with a microSD slot, so there's no chance to upgrade the memory. It runs on a previous version of Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean, which makes it a smooth performer with normal usage, but lags with heavy games and apps. Also, you can feel the heat, while playing games. Speakers are placed at the bottom panel, which is clear, but not loud enough and bass is missing.

The rear 8 MP camera produces sharp images with good color contrast and details in good lightning conditions. In low light, it can disappoint you with lots of noise, thankfully it has LED flash that improves the quality of low-light images a little. The front 5 MP camera is excellent for both video calling and quick selfies. The Oppo R1 packs 2410 mAh battery, which is non-removable and can last for about 16 hours with fair usage. You can play about 4 hours 20 minute of video with a fully charged battery.
