However, firms like Oppo, which just unveiled its brand-new Find N2 Flip smartphone, are now a rival to Samsung. According to the manufacturer, it is the most robust flip-style foldable screen smartphone ever.

How is the market catching up?

Given that the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 has a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip, the Oppo Find N2 Flip's MediaTek engine might seem excessive. However, MediaTek has surpassed Qualcomm in the chipset market with its Dimensity 9000+ CPU, making the Find N2 Flip smartphone one of the most powerful smartphones in its class.

  • Oppo's promise of a better screen is one of Samsung's primary worries. Despite the fact that Samsung has perfected AMOLED displays, the Oppo Find N2 Flip screen has a tear-drop hinge construction. It lessens the crease, which looks terrible and gathers dust particles that scratch and fracture the polymer composite of the folding screen.

Businesses competing with Samsung in the foldable industry.

  • Other businesses are competing with Samsung in the foldable industry. Vivo has an X Fold, which it showed last year but has yet to be released in India. Given that most other celebrities are known to use the iPhone, the best-selling premium smartphone in the world, this may point to Kohli's potential position as a brand ambassador. In 2024, Apple is also anticipated to release a foldable iPad mini, which could signal the company's entry into the foldable market. Google will probably remove the Pixel Foldable in a few months, and OnePlus has also revealed plans for its first folding phone. In China, foldables are also sold by Xiaomi, Huawei, and Tecno, so Samsung faces fierce rivalry.
  • Samsung manufactures the essential raw materials used in foldable screen technology. The only one that can implement the technology of this size except Samsung. Because of its scale and inability to debut products with cutting-edge features in such large quantities, Apple is frequently accused of not introducing the newest features first. For instance, Samsung is preparing to incorporate Oppo's tear-drop pivot into the Galaxy Z Flip5. According to rumours, Samsung will sell millions more Flip devices than Oppo will offer Flip for the Find N2 devices.

Regarding foldable, Samsung's effort on the software side is crucial. Even Google, the creator of Android, lagged. Reviewers have expressed dissatisfaction with even Oppo's Find N2, claiming that ColourOS could be better and the sizable external screen could be more beneficial, mainly in space. This is where Samsung needs to progress since companies like Google are now releasing flexible devices. As more devices with operating systems tailored for international markets are released outside of China, Chinese competition will also pick up. Given that it is a well-loved name alongside Samsung and Apple, OnePlus in India will also pose a significant threat because it will have something aspirational.
