Around a year back Panasonic changed the name of the organisation from System Solutions Division to Connected Solutions Divisions. The idea was because the world is kind of moving toward connected solutions to the need to come out at the complete gambit of products. Offering solutions to the customer to take care of the business issue that they have rather than selling them as separate point products.

The company thought if they continue to sell the products the way they are selling then it will boil down the price comparison from a customer’s perspective. With that intent, the company changed the way they would go out and address their customers. Panasonic changed the way they are doing their business just that it was an initiative in a direction of a connected solution rather than point products.

Panasonic works under three  3 LOBs; one business which happens to be their largest business is Panasonic Solutions Network (PSN). It’s got high definition video conferencing business, it’s got security and solutions, telephones and video door phones and this is how business under PSN is structured. Next, that happens to be the signage business which is the display solutions group, its called  DSG. Under that Panasonic have got large format displays which are professional displays and then projectors and these projectors would start from mid-level projectors going up to the one which are used for cinemas.  Another business is the Tough Book business which is basically ruggedized tablets and computers.

Apart from that, Panasonic also followed into services business last year therefore now what the company is trying to do is create solutions or cloud-based solutions which provide certain services to the end customers. The services business basically has nothing to do with the products that they sell. The new business that Panasonic started, it’s called a remote healthcare business.  The company has created a software platform which connects people to the healthcare system that is available in the country. So, that’s not something which Panasonic has been doing till now.

A new addition to the company’s business is JanAid, a healthcare app that will connect anyone to the health services, an application that can be downloaded from a play store or from the store and one gets it downloaded they sit as a client on the mobile phone. One can call into this application and this application will connect them to the healthcare system which means that at any given point of time this application will help to connect with the doctor.

Basically, when you make a call, the call connects you to the call centre and call centre further connects you to the right person. Or you want to do it digitally yourself, get hooked on to the web and then connect with your doctor.

Today’s issue is that there are so many platforms on which information is available that if we catch the attention of a particular information on the message being sent, we need to be innovative about it and we have to send it in a very targeted focused manner.

Changing the game from just of products to solutions then it can be said Panasonic is going beyond and trying to change it in a completely 180® from just being point products sellers to solution sellers and somebody who can give a comprehensive thing very differentiated from the market.
