The Patriot is a sleek sub-compact model which, if
looks were the only criteria, would have easily made it to the top of our ranking. The
front panel is very simple and elegant with just one push button-type switch and two LEDs.

Sleek, sub-compact 250 VA offline UPS,
but its performance doesn’t match its looks: longest switchover time. Two power
outlets. Rs 8,950.  Ranking: 14 (of 17 tested)  Efficiency: 82% at 146 W
Switchover time: 19.2 ms Backup time: 9 minutes

Unfortunately, the Patriot’s performance just
did not match its looks. It had the longest switchover time of all, a whopping 19.2
milliseconds. This UPS also failed to make the grade in maximum output voltage, cold-start
and battery float voltage. Interestingly, the Patriot scored the highest in the
qualitative parameters, but when it came to quantitative parameters, this is the lowest,
barring one.

Incidentally, though the switchover time is very high, it
was indeed able to support a switchover of each the four PCs we tested on it, without
resetting the PC. Most PCs have a sufficiently large capacitor in their SMPS units to
absorb even a 20 ms switchover.
