In the FY20, TV penetration stood at 69 per cent in India while the Smart TV market is expected to register a CAGR of 16.52 per cent during the 2021 to 2026. Smart TVs are not only enabling its users to watch content available on different channels as well as can operate various apps and allow them to search, chat, browse and download content.
Sony is known for its quality products and has a great brand value, however players like Xiaomi are gaining popularity for its affordable TVs. Still, Samsung is the first runnerup and LG second runnerup, followed by Xiaomi and Realme.
Our top three brands are still there in our minds, when asked to recall a brand name for Smart TVsspontaneously, 81 per cent responded named Sony. Samsung was remembered by 79 per cent respondents, and LG got 73 per cent, followed by Xiaomi – 61 and Realme – 29 per cent.
The story got changed when we asked for the brand of Smart TV they are currently using. Samsung got the maximum 27 per cent. Xiaomi came next with 20 per cent shares, followed by Sony – 19, LG – 13, Realme and Videocon – 4 per cent.
Meaning, Xiaomi is giving strong competition to Sony and other brands as well.
However, when we asked for future consideration, once again the future is for Sony, Samsung, and LG.
Scoring the highest, Sony got 49 per cent, Samsung achieved – 33 and LG – 30 per cent, followed by Xiaomi – 28 per cent with a new entry OnePlus with a sharing percentage of 17.
When asked about satisfaction with their existing brand, Sony scored highest 98. Samsung and LG were not far behind – 96, followed by Xiaomi – 91 and Videocon – 88 per cent.

Where we asked to purchase their existing brand’s Smart TV in future, once again Sony is the winner with the highest score of 94. Samsung and LG once again shared the spot with a score of 92, followed by Xiaomi – 78 and Haier – 76. Haier only appears in this loyalty survey, but its users are loyal to the brand, so it was able to appear in the top five list in Loyalty survey.
LG got the maximum votes when we asked to recommend their existing brand to their friends and family. LG scored 46, while Sony was just there with a score of 45, followed by Samsung – 44, Xiaomi – 42, and Realme – 40.
Sony is considered for its brand name and quality of the product, while LG and Samsung for its quality and after sale service.
