The domination of HP (first place) and Dell (second place) continue in the desktop PC market, and here they just exchange their spots from the laptop rankings
Yes, the trend has changed. Now most people prefer to have a mobile device for computing. Still, desktop PCs are in demand by professionals and gamers due to its capability to handle various intensive tasks and high-graphics intensive apps and games.
HP got the winner’s spot in almost the entire segment. This brand was loved by most of the users. In the Affinity Index, HP was on the top followed by its very close competitor Dell. Lenovo grabbed the third spot once again followed by Acer and Asus.
In the spontaneous Awareness HP scored 90 per cent and Dell was slightly behind with 88 per cent. But the second runner-up Lenovo had a huge gap with 69 per cent followed by Acer- 61 per cent and Asus only 42 per cent. Amazingly Apple scored very low, only 27 per cent. Apple is a big name in the industry, but unable to attract masses in India.
When asked about their current PC brand, HP scored highest with 29 per cent. Dell achieved the next spot with 27 per cent score followed by Lenovo - 19, Acer - 8 and Asus - 4 per cent.
When asked for which brand they will consider in the future purchase of desktop, the responses were amazing with 54 per cent Dell and HP users saying they buy the same brand in the future. Lenovo considerably got less confidence with 33 per cent followed by Acer at 26 per cent and Asus, 20 per cent.
But when asked about satisfaction, the story got turned around. Lenovo users are the most satisfied with their brand with a 98 per cent vote. This is followed by Dell—96per cent, HP —95 per cent, Acer–81 per cent and Asus–79 per cent. This was the only parameter where HP came in as second runner-up. Otherwise, in every segment, HP was the winner, though the difference isn’t that much.
At one point, where most users are satisfied with Lenovo, amazingly they are less loyal to the brand. Once again HP grabbed the first spot followed by Dell and Lenovo. The story has drastically changed when asked to recommend purchasing a PC brand for their friends and family.
Remember, the Spontaneous Awareness results, Apple scored quite less – 27 per cent, but in the Advocacy, both Apple and HP have got the highest NPS score of 67, meaning Apple and HP users would recommend the brand to their friends and family.
Lenovo again managed to come as second runner-up but Dell pushed to the third runner-up. When asked why they chose their current brand, similar to the laptop, while selecting Desktop also, the most important factor considered was quality of product followed by brand name.
Dell, HP, and Asus have impressed its users with their quality of product. Price was the factor for Acer products while users trusted Lenovo for after sales support/service.
