The Perfect Opti UPS 420 E is a compact model with
designer looks. There is a single push button switch and LED on the front panel marked
Test/Silence. On the back there is the RS 232 port, four dip switches, an on-off switch,
two outlets and a switch marked 3 AMP (we are not sure what it was for, since we could not
turn it on and off.)

A line interactive UPS with a high switchover time but offset by good backup time, software controls and low float voltage. It was able to cold-start a second 250VA load. Rs 9,990. Ranking: 5 (of 17 tested) Efficiency: 89% at 174 W Switchover time: 10.6 ms Backup time: 8 minutes |
The switchover time was on the higher side at 10.6
milliseconds, and the float voltage was on the lower side. Otherwise the performance was
good with a backup time of 8 minutes. The unit was able to cold-start a second 250 VA
load, providing it a minimum voltage of 239 volts. The 420 E showed good efficiencies of
89 percent, but at a very low 174 watts. It survived the short circuit, and recovered by
itself on the removal of the short circuit, to continue functioning normally. This was one
of two UPSs to manage this.
