New Update
PewDiePie

PewDiePie is perhaps one of the biggest stars on the internet right now. His famous tussle with T-Series skyrocketed his subscriber count on YouTube, which now stands at 104 million, making him the most subscribed individual content creator on the platform. PewDiePie commands a loyal fanbase and YouTube has secured that with an exclusive streaming contract.

This means that PewDiePie, apart from creating his usual pre recorded content on YouTube, will now also start streaming live on the platform. Exclusive streaming deals are a recent trend. Shroud and Ninja, two of Twitch’s biggest former stars, signed a deal with Mixer to stream exclusively. Twitch responded by signing a deal with Timthetatman and DrLupo and a couple other streamers. While how much each of them was paid by their respective platforms is unknown, it is rumoured that Ninja was given $20-$30 million by Microsoft for his Mixer deal. It is clear that the YouTube deal with PewDiePie wont be cheap to say the least.

"YouTube has been my home for over a decade now and live streaming on the platform feels like a natural fit as I continue to look for new ways to create content and interact with fans worldwide," PewDiePie said in a statement. "Live streaming is something I'm focusing a lot on in 2020 and beyond, so to be able to partner with YouTube and be at the forefront of new product features is special and exciting for the future."
