Piramal Diagnostic Services is India’s largest Pathology & Radiology Centre
chain from pharmaceuticals major Piramal Healthcare. They provide advanced
diagnostic facility under one roof. X-Ray, MRI, CT-scan or even blood test or
any other pathology test used to be conducted in the laboratories and then their
reports sent to the centres.

The turn around time for test reports was long and in cases where tests
reports were required urgently, this manual process of sending the results of
the test was causing delays in diagnosing. Not only was there delay in
reporting, but there were also instances that the doctors were not having the
status of the reports. Tracing the samples sent for tests was also becoming an
issue for the organization. To counter these problems, the organization opted to
implement a Laboratory Information System.

Post implementation of the Laboratory Information System the process has
become automated from being a manual and error-prone one. Since, the data
transfer about a test result takes place directly from the medical equipment to
the LIS application. manual entries no longer happens thereby eleminating
chances of error. Also the doctors can authenticate the reports online by giving
their digital signatures.

Now as a future plan, Piramal Diagnostic wants to develop a patient service
module on top of this LIS solution through which the patient would be able to
take his report online by logging in through a website.
