In October, Google unveiled the Pixel Watch 2, the company's newest model, with the Pixel 8 family, which is its premium smartphone series. The original Pixel Watch, the company's first smartwatch, was never released in India, therefore this one became the first ever to arrive. Now, the IT behemoth is testing a new function for its wristwatches.

According to a report by 9to5Google, this new feature is coming soon to the Google Pixel Watch app and will notify users when the wearable’s battery is full. These notifications will make the charging process more convenient while minimizing efforts to repeatedly check the battery percentage while their Pixel Watch is charging. The report claims that this is one of the most requested features that users wanted Google to add to Pixel Watch 2.

How will it work?

Google is reportedly releasing version 2.1 of the Pixel Watch app via the Play Store. With the latest update, users will get a notification displayed on their paired phone when the smartwatch is fully charged. To introduce the feature, the report also noted how it works once it's enabled.

According to the report, the notification came as soon as the clock reached 100%. The report also mentions that the feature should make its way to both the original Pixel Watch and the latest Pixel Watch 2. Google also recently released the first software update for the latest Pixel Watch 2.

How does this feature benefit users?

This feature saves Pixel Watch models from spending more time on the charger than necessary. Currently, users who want to know if their smartwatch is fully charged have to look at the watch screen or check the battery level via Bluetooth. That's why users leave the Pixel Watch charging for hours when it only takes a little less than an hour. This feature could be useful, especially since Google recently switched to its own charger that lacks wireless charging support.
