Shady third party resellers have come into the limelight once again. Recently, G2A, which sells gaming keys had to pay a dev after G2A’s own investigation found out that a lot of the keys were obtained illegally. The online store has long been suspected to give a platform to some shady sellers who obtain game keys illegally. And something like this has reportedly happened in India as well, the platform this time being Paytm Mall.
The Mako Reactor reported that they were tipped about renowned seller Stucii selling “games” on Paytm Mall. But what Stucii exactly was selling were PSN accounts which had the games. According to the report games like Final Fantasy VII Remake, Devil May Cry 5 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare were listed on the website. The games are still listed, but clicking on them now just takes you to the homepage. We believe this development happened after the report.
More often than not these PSN accounts are illegally obtained. In some cases, the original owner of the account isn’t even aware of it. This also causes major privacy concerns as PSN accounts usually contain credit card information as well.
Another factor is that buying or reselling PSN accounts is against Sony’s ToU and it can permanently ban your console from accessing the PSN. Which means no more new games and online play for you.
