PS5 Cloud Streaming Coming to PS Plus Premium

Later this month, Sony will debut cloud streaming for the PS5 console. The function will be available solely to PS Plus Premium — the highest-tier — customers, allowing them to stream specific Game Catalogue titles such as Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Horizon Forbidden West, Ghost of Tsushima, and others without having to download or acquire them. Unfortunately, it will be released in stages, beginning with Japan, Europe, and North America, and promising 'hundreds' of PS5 games in the future. In June, the corporation acknowledged the addition and testing of cloud streaming as part of its shift to the technology, which was reinforced by its PlayStation Portal handheld device.

PS5 cloud streaming will be available in Japan

PS5 cloud streaming will be available in Japan on 17 October, Europe on 23 October, and North America on 30 October. Furthermore, players may stream any titles they own digitally — no download required — including the new God of War Ragnarök, Resident Evil 4, and Dead Island 2, to mention a few. Regarding quality, it looks like the August story was correct, as PlayStation now offers four high-quality resolutions to pick from: 720p, 1080p, 1440p, and 4K, all with 60fps and SDR or HDR output. While players can select their favorite resolution, the outcome is ultimately determined by the type of internet connection they have. Sony recommends at least 15mbps for 1080p streaming and at least 38mbps for 4K streaming.

Cloud streaming was technically made available when the redesigned PS Plus was released last year, but it was confined to PS4 and the Classics Catalogue, which contained PS2 and PS3 titles. In addition to images, one may record up to three-minute-long gameplay clips, which will be saved locally onto the PS5's Media Gallery — which is also available via the PlayStation phone app. It's also worth noticing Sony's choice of wording, which claims that the functionality mentioned above will be accessible 'exclusively' on the PS5 at launch' - implying that we could stream games to other devices. All of this will be added to the existing perks of a PS Plus Premium subscription, which include Game Trials (timed demonstrations) for new titles, a monthly selection of free games, unique discounts, and access to online multiplayer and cloud storage.

Sony upped the costs for its 12-month-long PS Plus subscriptions

Sony upped the costs for its 12-month-long PS Plus subscriptions in August despite failing to provide a compelling explanation for the membership due to a mediocre batch of free titles recently. The rise prompted several fans to quit their memberships, so ideally, the addition of PS5 cloud streaming works well to PlayStation's advantage. Sony claims that the feature is already available in Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Italy, Croatia, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Slovakia, Slovenia, Japan, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Norway, Poland, Portugal, the Republic of Cyprus, Romania, the United Kingdom, and the United States. As previously indicated, neither India nor Sony's planned staggered rollout plan is missing from that list.

In India, a PlayStation Plus Deluxe subscription costs Rs. 849 monthly.
