PUBG Mobile New Privacy Policy

PUBG mobile has enjoyed tremendous success in India. From being just a mobile version of a PC game to creating an entirely new genre of mobile gaming in the country. Streamers like Dynamo Gaming and MortalL are now so well known that they’re celebrities in their own right. This is what the game on its own did in India. Not only that but if you have been playing the game for a long enough time then you know that it has done a lot of India exclusive content promotion. From creating new costumes for Holi and cricket to new in-game content for Indian players.

This was made possible partly due to the fact that PUBG Mobile was a different type of mobile battle royal game and partly due to Jio giving free data to Indians. Now though it seems times for PUBG Mobile are changing. Recently the Indian government has banned 106 apps from China. Most of these apps have been cited to misuse the data of Indian citizens and have been banned due to that reason. PUBG Mobile has also been in the news with the Indian Army banning its personnel from playing the game. Even in the news, it is being said that the game is being monitored by the Indian Government. An interesting fact to note here is that PUBG Mobile is banned in Pakistan for being an “addictive game”.

If you have opened the game recently then you might have seen a message saying that PUBG Mobile has changed its privacy policy for India. This was a big step by them and Tencent games. PUBG Mobile gets the highest number of its users from India and these app bans by the Indian government have shaken them up. It seems like Tencent games are not wanting to take any chances with their most popular game. Under the new and updated privacy policy of PUBG Mobile, the game will not let third-party apps and vendors collect data from its users. Even if it is a great move by Tencent games it does beg the question if the data was being collected previously.

Player data not only includes your e-mail address but also your voice chat in the game and the times you have logged in to play the game and your in-game purchases. That very data could have gone out of the country and if at any point it went out of Indian shores in some other data center then there is a probability of user data being mined or collected by some third party. Needless to say that PUBG Mobile’s new privacy policy for Indian users is welcomed and appreciated.
