Set up in 1995, Regional Rural Bank's (RRB) contribution in rural

institution in terms of geographical coverage, clientele outreach, and business

volumes has been immense in the development of the rural economy. The business

domain covers the priority sector advances. RRB's target customers are mainly

small businesses and mass people that comprise of agriculturists, etc. RRBs

needs of subsidy, soft lean schemes, subvention are also based on some specific

needs. The challenges that they had faced before implementation of this project

were customization, parameterization and implementation. Another challenge was

to become technologically sound, so as to able to render the quality of services

like payment & settlement system, trade finance, etc.

RRB implemeted a core banking solution. The skilled and experience manpower was

extended to RRBs for the existing datacenter and other IT resources that was

established in New Delhi. 6 instances of database along with 3-Tier setup

comprising of web server, application & database server was also put in place. A

strong Business Process Re-engineering activity for standardization of various

processes along with Business Process Definition exercise was also undertaken.

Improved customer service, housekeeping, centralised generation of MIS reports

etc are some of the benefits derived off the implementation of this solution in

RRBs.
