Mobile banking has not only become the medium of delivery of banking services
but also a strategic tool for business development. Mobile banking along with
m-Commerce will witness a phenomenal growth with banking to be the major
benefactor. Implementation of core banking solutions in PNB has provided them a
gateway that introduces new services platform to enable customers convenience
banking on the go.

Among the challenges the bank faced included finding the right balance of
security & customer security, ensuring that the applications will be supported
on different handsets due the diversification of mobile handsets. Building
confidence level among the customers, changing their mindsets, and ensuring
business continuity 24x7x365 were other challenges.

Now the customers have access to their bank accounts on 24x7x365 basis through
mobile channel. They can view and access services like view account balance,
account statement request, online stop payment of cheque, and transfer of funds
to own accounts and a lot more.

One of the key aims of the banks is to capture new customers with the
positioning of the products & services and mobile banking is one such
initiative. Mobile banking has an extra edge over other delivery channels as it
is faster, accurate, efficient. With mobile banking, customers have access to
the services while on the go and that too anytime anywhere with no time or
geographical barriers.
