New Update

Being such a large bank with 4500+ branches networked, the bank has a host of

different connectivity options and software applications on different platforms.

Keeping it always available is no mean task. So the challenge in front of the

bank was to achieve 99% availability and security of the network,

communications, systems, application software, databases, and the data itself.

The bank also had to ensure availability of resources including the network to

authorized users without any disruption or degradation of service. The number of

event logs that were generated by so many devices reached a level where it was

impossible to monitor them manually. This was a serious security issue, because

threats and incidents could pass by unnoticed. It also attracted adverse audit

comments.

To tackle this problem, PNB deployed an enterprise-wide Security Operation

center for centralized collection of logs from servers, networking devices and
security devices and performing event correlation on the same. This helped

develop a robust information security information and event management

framework.

The implementation of this center helped reduce risks and downtime for PNB and

enhanced the information security. The center supports the bank's audit and
compliance objectives. Now, security events can be handled in a formal and

timely manner. It provides the management with ability to access, analyze and

explore information. It helps the management develop insights and understanding

of available data
