The contest attracted about 400 entries, out of which 10 finalists were shortlisted, who’ll be eligible for a funding of $10,000 each. This is to enable them to translate their ideas into working prototypes. The challenge was to design products, using Qualcomm’s technologies, primarily in the areas of smartphones, tablets, and IoT (Internet of Things), for agriculture, automotive, banking, education, healthcare, smart cities and wearables.

These 10 companies will be incubated in Qualcomm’s Innovation Lab and of these, three winners will be chosen who’ll receive a funding of $100,000 at the end of the incubation period, which is expected around November 2016.

The finalists were announced in the presence of J.S. Deepak, Secretary, Department of Telecom (DoT), Secretary, Department of Electronics & Information Technology (DeitY) and R. Chandrashekhar, President, National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM).
