Computers in training institutes and cyber cafes should be protected from unwanted software installations or file deletions. The Radix Protector is a PCI card that does this, without installing any additional software. It works on DOS, Windows 3x/9x/Me/NT/ 2000. Radix says that disk usage for storing this information never exceeds 100 MBs .

The card protects only hard drives (not floppies or zip drives). Even if it is installed on a non-C partition, the card protects C as well as the other partition. It can be administered only through a password. and if removed manually without the proper uninstalling procedure (with the password), the computer will not boot up. Custom installs offer many options.

The card worked flawlessly in different modes. Complete software installs vanished without a trace after rebooting the computer. Registry keys that we modified manually were also restored to their original condition. Even a ‘Format C:’ was unable to do any damage and the computer rebooted in pristine condition.

Radix Protector can be bought from Israel. While a single unit costs $65-70, the price is lowered for larger orders. It is a product well worth its cost.
