Ahead of launch, Prabhu Ram, Head of Industry Intelligence Group at CyberMedia Research, said, “The smartphone industry is extremely hyper-competitive. Gaining consumer awareness and acceptance always poses a significant challenge. One way that smartphone brands tend to rise above the noise and highlight their brand equity is through cross-industry collaborations. Through such collaborations, smartphone brands showcase their new device salience, while highlighting the partner brand strengths.”
“The smartphone industry has over the years undertaken an array of cross-industry collaborations such as partnerships with auto brands. Think BMW, Lamborghini or Porsche, Partnerships with fashion labels and now realme is purportedly partnering with a major carbonated soft drink brand for an upcoming phone. The realme experiment will be an interesting case study for the future of consumer tech in India and beyond,” he further said.
