Recently launched Redmi Note 7 Pro is Xiaomi top contender in the sub-20K smartphone market that brings with it 48MP sensor, gradient designs and a sleek device. Xiaomi has announced that its Redmi Note 7 series has crossed over 2 million sales in India. While Redmi created a tough battleground for other players to compete in this price segment outplaying Samsung, Micromax, Realme is one such brand that has the capability to give Redmi a run for their cover. Oppo’s sub-brand Realme has now been eating Xiaomi’s share in the Indian smartphone industry -- following in the footsteps of Redmi – bringing top features at a relatively cheap price. While both the smartphones offer similar spec sheet, here in this Realme 3 Pro vs Redmi Note 7 Pro comparison, we will tell you which one you should go for.
Realme 3 Pro vs Redmi Note 7 Pro: Design, display
Of the two devices, Redmi Note 7 Pro is much impressive in terms of design. The Redmi Note 7 Pro sports glass back that automatically gives it a subtle look as compared to plastic back of Realme 3 Pro.
This does not mean that the Realme 3 Pro is boring, rather it is a decent looking phone with a 3D textured race track design at the back.
In terms of handling, the Realme 3 Pro weighs 172 grams and is a bit lighter in hand than the Redmi Note 7 Pro that weighs 186 grams. Both the smartphones are offered in gradient colours. The Realme 3 Pro has nitro blue and lightning purple in gradient finishes, the Redmi Note 7 Pro has neptune blue and nebula red in gradient colours.
In terms of ergonomics, the Realme 3 Pro, being a compact device feels easy on hands than the Redmi Note 7 Pro.
Display wise, both the Realme 3 Pro and Redmi Note 7 Pro sports a 6.3-inch IPS LCD display with 2340×1080 pixels resolution and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. And yes, there is notch. And when it comes to multimedia viewing, I would rather go with Realme 3 Pro as it offers vibrant colours thank to the Widevine L1 certification which is absent in Redmi Note 7 Pro.
Realme 3 Pro vs Redmi Note 7 Pro: user interface and performance
While the Realme 3 Pro runs on ColorOS 6.0 based on Android 9 Pie, the Redmi Note 7 Pro runs MIUI 10 based on Android 9 Pie. Of the two, I preferred using the MIUI better as it offered a smooth navigation overall. The ColorOS felt sluggish. One thing that really disappoints in the MIUI is the unwanted notifications.
If you will be using the device to run basic to medium productivity tasks such as working with docs, spreadsheets or with light gaming, both the devices will offer more or a less same experience. However, if you are running a few slightly heavy graphics apps or games, the Realme 3 Pro outshined the Redmi Note 7 Pro completely. Even gaming is smoother in Realme 3 Pro and can run games such as Alto’s Adventure, PUBG Mobile and other shooting games without a glitch.
Realme 3 Pro vs Redmi Note 7 Pro: Camera performance
The Redmi Note 7 Pro is the first smartphone from Xiaomi to sport a 48MP rear camera based on Sony IMX 586 sensor which is particularly found in high-end cameras. The 48MP image sensor has a ½-inch large sensor size, a wide f/1.79 aperture and a 6-piece lens. On the other hand, the Realme 3 Pro sports a 16MP Sony IMX519 sensor paired up with 5MP depth sensor.
The Redmi Note 7’s 48MP primary camera is capable enough to produce great colours on your everyday shots and for social media users for their quick Instagram feeds. The camera images not only good great on the screen but also on big screen’s. The Note 7’s camera captures 12MP photos by default. The 48MP mode can be activated from the pro mode. And because the 48MP lens will produce big images (usually 14MB-15MB on average), thus will eat up your storage soon.
While the Realme 3 Pro’s 16MP camera clicks good images, but these lack in detail, sharpness when compared to Redmi Note 7 Pro’s images. The Realme 3 Pro’s images more on the brighter side.
For low—light photography, you will enjoy clicking with Redmi Note 7 Pro. Why? Because the Redmi Note 7 Pro’s camera combines adjacent four megapixels into one Super Pixel to produce more details in the photo.
Realme 3 Pro vs Redmi Note 7 Pro: Conclusion
While both the devices offer great value for your money, however, packing Snapdragon 675, a great 48MP rear camera and an elegant design, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro is a more refined choice over Realme 3 Pro. And if gaming is what you demand, then Realme 3 Pro is the one you should go for.
