Have you ever emptied your recycle bin or pressed Shift+Delete accidentally,
on an important file? Well, don't feel guilty because there's software available
that can recover it for you. This handy utility called R-Undelete saves you the
miseries that follow deleting important files. It's a 2.23 MB download from
www.r-undelete.com. There's a demo
version that lets you 'undelete' files smaller than 64 K, and for larger files,
you'll have to purchase the software. Let us see how to recover a DOC file with
it. Its installation is a breeze. But here's a word of caution. If you've
deleted a file from a particular partition of your hard drive, don't install or
copy anything on that partition, else you may lose all possibilities of
recovering any file from there.

When you launch R-Undelete, it will ask you to choose the drive partition from which you've accidentally deleted a file. In our case, it was the D: drive |
Next, choose what you want to do. Ideally, the first option of file enumeration on disk should be good enough to find and recover accidentally deleted files |
From the left pane, go to the folder from where you lost the file. The right pane show a list of all files that have been deleted from there. Choose the file you want to recover |
Once you've found the deleted file, just choose a path where you'd like to restore it to. But remember, don't restore it in a location from where you've lost files |
