The Redmi A2 and Redmi A2 Plus have been unveiled by Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi on their international website. The smartphones are the successors of the current Redmi A1 series, which sells both domestically and abroad, but there has yet to be any news on a debut in India from official circles.

Redmi A2 Technical Details

The 6.52-inch HD+ touchscreen on the Redmi A2 has a 20:9 aspect ratio. The screen has a 1600 x 720-pixel size. The smartphone is 9.09mm thick and weighs 192g.

It has a MediaTek Helio G36 processor, clocked at up to 2.2 GHz. The phone has storage options of 32 GB eMMC 5.1 and 2GB/3GB LPDDR4X RAM. The smartphone's memory extension function allows for the addition of 2GB of additional RAM for multitasking. Additionally, the capacity can be increased by another 1TB.

The smartphone is powered by Android 12 (GO Edition) OS. Redmi has guaranteed two years of security updates for the device. In terms of the battery, a 5000mAh battery pack and a 10W charger are included in the package.

In terms of optics, it has a 5MP front camera in the notch and an 8MP primary camera with f/2.0. The smartphone can capture 1080p movies at 30 frames per second. Portrait mode, HDR mode, quick videos, time-lapse photos, and other features are available in the camera UI.

The A2 has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, FM Radio, a 3.5mm headphone jack, 4G access, support for microSD cards, and a Micro USB port for charging and data transmission. The smartphone has three colour choices: Light Blue, Light Green, and Black.

Redmi A2+ Technical Details

The Redmi A2 and the A2 Plus share the same display, CPU, software, battery, and camera specifications. The Redmi A2 does not have a fingerprint sensor on the back for added protection as the A2 Plus does. There needs to be more information on the potential debut of the handsets in India.
