New Update

Reliance Infrastructure Ltd. had been bearing tangible and intangible losses

due to higher electricity network downtime and delayed supply restoration during

abnormal fault conditions due to manual processes in identifying the faulty

cable section, inaccessible remotely located substations during contingent

situations like heavy downpour, flood, riot, earthquake etc. Also there was lack

of central monitoring through a manageable network, sabotage attempt at the sub

stations during labour unrest/strikes, higher wear and tear of the switchgears

due to breakdown maintenance, thus reducing the overall life of the switchgears.

This led to higher replacement cost of the faulty switchgears. To address these

problems, RInfra has deployed Network Management System comprising of

Distribution Management System and Equipment Monitoring System. The benefits

which have been accrued by Reliance Infrastructure after deployment of the

project include higher electrical network uptime, optimum utilization of

manpower for value added services to the customer, reduced time for fault

identification and restoration, reduced customer service costs, and reduced

carbon emissions. This also helped the company to achieve optimum loadability of

the distribution transformers, elimination of human workforce to operate

11KV/33KV switchgear, and in outage management.
