Reliance Jio Smartphones: Jio Phones to be Announced on 28 August

Reliance may soon release two Jio smartphones in the Indian market. While the following Jio Phone handsets have yet to be formally revealed, they have reportedly received certification from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) website, indicating an impending release. Reliance is preparing to have its Annual General Meeting (AGM) event on 28 August, during which the business will likely make an announcement about the Jio Phones. The rumoured Jio Phones might be powered by the Snapdragon 480 SoC, 4GB of RAM, and 32GB of internal storage.

Jio Phone: Leaked information

Mukul Sharma (@stufflistings) shared a screenshot of the alleged Jio Phone listing on the BIS website. According to the leak, phones with model numbers JBV161W1 and JBV162W1 received BIS clearance on Friday, 11 August. The listing does not offer any smartphone specs other than the model number.

Has the company announced Jio Phones?

Reliance Jio has yet to announce the introduction of new Jio Phones. Reliance Industries will have its 46th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 28 August at 2:00pm IST. During the ceremony, Reliance Jio Chairman Akash Ambani is scheduled to make an announcement concerning Jio Phones.

Jio Phone: Expected Specifications

The Jio Phones have been circulating for quite some time. Last year, a Jio Phone with the model number Jio LS1654QB5 was discovered on the Geekbench benchmarking platform, sporting a Snapdragon 480+ SoC, an Adreno 619 GPU, and 4GB of RAM.

Previous rumours said the future 5G device would include 32GB of internal storage and a 13-megapixel dual back camera array. It is expected to launch with Android 12 and will have a 6.5-inch HD+ LCD display with a refresh rate of 90Hz. Jio Phone is likely to include an 8-megapixel selfie camera. The Jio Phone is said to be powered by a 5,000mAh battery with 18W charging capabilities. The Jio Phone 5G handset could be priced between Rs. 8,000 and Rs. 12,000.

Reliance Jio: Expected Announcements at the Event

Reliance Jio introduced the JioBook (2023), a new laptop priced at Rs 16,499 in India. JioBook (2023) has an anti-glare 11.6-inch HD display. An MT8788 octa-core CPU powers it and runs JioOS. It has a battery life of up to 8 hours. It has 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. It also has a JD webcam and stereo speakers.

As usual, RIL Chairman Mukesh Ambani will address the Reliance Jio AGM event and make significant announcements concerning companies, including Jio. At the event, Jio is expected to debut Jio 5G phones, new 5G tariffs, and a 5G hotspot gadget dubbed Air Fibre 5G.
