If your work involves tracking and managing CVs, you have a tedious job. To get all CVs into a searchable format, you probably shift between your e-mail program, Word and a database app–painstakingly copying and pasting data. And no matter how careful you are, there are chances that you end up leaving out some bit of info from the CV. This can even be because of the limitations of your database app. Now if you have all the three applications in one interface, things would simplify. That’s what Résumé Fox does for you. 

It has an e-mail client that you can configure to download mail on which CVs arrive. You can also set up the client to fetch CVs from a particular folder in your Outlook. When you click on any of the messages, the attachments get automatically saved in a pre-specified folder, and open in the Word-like portion of the interface. Now to extract info from this CV, there’s a database part. You can specify up to 10 fields here–the app will automatically pick up the e-mail ID and date of birth in the resume. For the other info, you have to click on the text in the body of the CV and click on the appropriate button to enter it into the database automatically. The company that has developed this product claims that this process, which would otherwise take at least 15 minutes to complete, takes just under a minute with Résumé Fox. You can easily add your existing collection of CVs too.

Now you can set up a wild search that lets you find CVs with a particular string in it. Your existing collection of resumes can also be searched with this. For a more focused search, you can specify conditions for each of the fields in the database and also the body of each of the CVs in a particular folder. 

You can shortlist candidates easily, send them personalized mail, forward their CVs to clients and track what their feedback is. So when a client or a candidate calls you up, all you have to do is look up the history and you can update them on the status. This application can be run off your server–the database will sit on the server, while the people who have been assigned the access get to work via the client on their PCs.
