Audio plays a major role when you are gaming. A good pair of headphones is a must-have peripheral. There are multiple headphones out there but not all of them are suitable for long hours of gaming.

The Zebronics Orion headphones, however, are different. The flagship gaming headphone from Zebronics checks out almost all the boxes of being a good pair of headphones.

In the Box

The headphones come in a huge box consisting of 3 things.

  • The headphone
  • A CD for drivers
  • A user manual

However, it would be better to download the drivers from the official website as they will be more up to date and latest.

The headphones

The headphones are premium and feel so as well. The earmuffs on the headphones are metallics making it more durable than other options out there. Even though it is a big headphone, the company has managed to keep it lightweight, so it doesn’t feel that you are constantly carrying something on your head. The headband is padded and the pad is pretty comfortable. The headphones just fit and feel comfortable.

The cable is around 2 meters long and braided making it even more durable and long-lasting. It is a USB headphone and does not have a 3.5 mm headphone jack.

The Control Pod

The control pod on the Zeb Orion is one of the most useful additions. You do not need to pause your game and go into windows to change the volume. The control pod has buttons to control the volume, turn the microphone on and off, mute the volume and change RGB modes.

Yes, the headphones have RGB. There are around 7 colours that you can choose according to your mood. The colour of the pod will be the same as the ear muffs. Long pressing the RGB button will switch off any colours.

Audio

Conversing with teammates during a game is very important. The microphone on the Zeb Orion is good and offers crystal clear sound without any muffling. You do not need to have a dedicated microphone for gaming or during streaming. This headphone does it all.

Apart from that, the headphone has 7.1 surround sound properties. This makes the gaming experience more immersive and intense. It is very hard for you to miss any sound in the game and tracing and spotting the enemies and movements is very easy on this. However, you need to update the drivers to enable the 7.1 surround sound.

Comfort

The Zeb Orion does not look fancy but is also very comfortable to use. The headband is spring-loaded and padded. It can be adjusted accordingly. The ear cushions are thick and do not hurt the ears after hours of gaming. The sound does not escape the earphone as a result of the leak no matter how high your volume is. The bass is also very good and the noise cancellation works perfectly.

Performance

The performance of these headphones justifies the spec-sheet. The brand has made sure that they do not over commit. The 7.1 surround sound works perfectly. However, make sure to update the drivers.

The design aesthetics are not very loud. The RGB is not very bright and keeps the ambience on the cooler side even with the RGB on.

The microphone is exceptional and users would not require an external machine for capturing audio.

Pros

  • All-round performance, perfect for gaming and streaming.
  • Designed to perfection, comes with controllable RGB
  • Lightweight and Portable
  • Comfort making Long Hours of Gaming Less Tiring
  • 1 surround sound experience

Cons

  • The size was slightly bigger than our liking
  • Might seem overpriced to some people

Rating

The headphones can be rated on these parameters according to what they offer

  • Price: 9/10
  • Performance: 9/10
  • Features: 9/10

Conclusion

To sum it up, if you have the budget to buy a good pair of headphones, then going with these headphones would be a very good idea. These are good for casual as well as competitive gaming and a good option for streamers as well. We think that the headphones justify their price but there is a lot of competition from brands like Cosmic Byte and Red Gear, this pair of headphones shine when it comes to performance and audio quality.

The 7.1 surround sound feature can also be very useful for audio technicians and sound engineers who create and work around music.
